Have a professional email like info@namadomain.com It certainly feels more credible than using regular Gmail. The good news is, you don't need to open a browser or webmail every time you want to check your email — the Gmail app on your phone lets you manage your domain email directly from one place.
This article guides you step by step to add domain email (from cPanel/hosting) to the Gmail app on Android or iPhone.
What You Need Before You Start
Before entering the settings, prepare the following information from your hosting provider (can be checked in cPanel → Email Accounts):
| Information | Example |
|---|---|
| Domain email address | info@rebornterra.co |
| Email password | (the password you created) |
| Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) | mailserver.domainname.com |
| IMAP Port | 993 (SSL) |
| Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) | mailserver.domainname.com |
| SMTP Port | 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS) |

Host: servermail.domainname.com Port: 465 or 587 SSL: Active

Troubleshooting: Common Problems
❌ “Unable to connect to server”
- Make sure the server name is correct:
mail.domainname.com - Make sure the port used is correct (993 for IMAP, 465/587 for SMTP)
- Try using the server IP directly if the domain has not propagated yet.
❌ “Wrong password” even though it is correct
- Make sure the password entered is the correct password. e-mail, not the cPanel password
- Try resetting your email password in cPanel → Email Accounts
❌ Can receive email but can't send
- Check SMTP settings — make sure authentication is enabled
- Change SMTP port from 465 to 587 or vice versa
- Make sure SSL/TLS is enabled in the outgoing server settings.
❌ SSL / Invalid Certificate warning appears
- This happens if SSL is not active on your hosting server.
- Temporary solution: use port 143 (IMAP) and 25 or 587 (SMTP) without SSL
- Permanent solution: enable AutoSSL in your hosting cPanel
Additional Tips
- Use IMAP, not POP3 — IMAP keeps emails in sync across all devices. If you read an email on your phone, it's also available on your laptop.
- Set sender name — In your Gmail account settings, change your display name to a professional name like your business name to make it look neater in your recipient's inbox.
- Enable notifications — Make sure notifications for this domain's email account are enabled so you don't miss important messages.
