How to Add Domain Email to the Gmail App on Your Phone

The good news is, you don't need to open a browser or webmail every time you want to check your email — the Gmail app on your phone lets you manage your domain email directly from one place.

This article guides you step by step to add domain email (from cPanel/hosting) to the Gmail app on Android or iPhone.

What You Need Before You Start

Before entering the settings, prepare the following information from your hosting provider (can be checked in cPanel → Email Accounts):

Steps on Android

1. Open the Gmail application

Make sure the Gmail application is installed and you are logged in with your Google account.

2. Open the Settings Menu

• Tap the icon three lines (≡) in the top left corner
• Scroll down, select Settings (or Settings)

3. Add New Account

• Tap Add account
• Choose Other (not Google, not Outlook)

4. Enter Email Address

Troubleshooting: Common Problems

❌ “Unable to connect to server”

• Make sure the port used is correct (993 for IMAP, 465/587 for SMTP)
• Try using the server IP directly if the domain has not propagated yet.

❌ “Wrong password” even though it is correct

• Make sure the password entered is the correct password. e-mail, not the cPanel password
• Try resetting your email password in cPanel → Email Accounts

❌ Can receive email but can't send

• Check SMTP settings — make sure authentication is enabled
• Change SMTP port from 465 to 587 or vice versa
• Make sure SSL/TLS is enabled in the outgoing server settings.

❌ SSL / Invalid Certificate warning appears

• This happens if SSL is not active on your hosting server.
• Temporary solution: use port 143 (IMAP) and 25 or 587 (SMTP) without SSL
• Permanent solution: enable AutoSSL in your hosting cPanel
